Borders
Borders outline and define the main area of the floor, usually in a contrasting color. As
a general rule, an intricate border calls for a simple main field, and vice versa. It also is
important to keep the scale of the border in proportion to the scale of the room. For instance,
a one-foot-wide border would not be proportionate in a four-foot-wide hallway. Be sure to draw
out the pattern, and scale, to make sure your expectations are met.
